MTD accountant in London for sole traders and landlords
Software, digital records and four quarterly submissions a year, done for you — so Making Tax Digital costs you an hour rather than a weekend.
What you get
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax replaces one annual return with four quarterly updates and a Final Declaration, and it requires records to be kept digitally in software HMRC recognises. We provide the software, keep the digital records, prepare and submit each quarterly update on your behalf, and tell you what your tax position looks like as the year goes along rather than in the following January.
The obligation arrives by income, not by choice. It applies from April 2026 where qualifying income from self-employment and property is above £50,000, from April 2027 above £30,000, and from April 2028 above £20,000. Property and self-employment income are added together for the test, which catches people who assume neither figure is large enough on its own.
What is included
Set up in your name, paid for as part of the service, with your bank feed connected.
You photograph a receipt; we keep the record HMRC requires behind it.
Prepared and submitted by 7 August, 7 November, 7 February and 7 May.
So the amount to put aside is known in month three, not month fifteen.
We tell you what we need and by when, and we chase it. Nothing depends on you remembering a date.
The filing that actually settles the year, quoted separately because it depends on your whole tax position.
Who it is for
Sole traders and landlords whose qualifying income crosses an MTD threshold, and anyone who would rather join early and be used to the rhythm before it becomes compulsory. It suits people who already use us for a return and want the year handled rather than reconstructed, and people who have looked at the software, understood exactly none of it, and decided their time is better spent on the work they are actually paid for.
If you are below the threshold you stay on Self Assessment, and we will say so plainly rather than selling you a subscription you do not need.
How it works
We check whether MTD applies to you and from which April, using your real figures rather than a guess. If it does not apply yet, we tell you when it will and leave you on the annual return until then.
When it does apply, we set the software up, connect what needs connecting and show you the one thing you have to do, which is send us the paperwork as it happens. Each quarter we prepare the update, show it to you, submit it and tell you where your tax stands. At the end of the year the Final Declaration closes it out.
Over fourteen years the firm has collected more than 1,300 published reviews across Google and Trustpilot, and both profiles are open for anyone to read before they pick up the phone.
What it costs
The MTD service is a monthly subscription that depends on how many income sources you have, and the Final Annual Declaration is quoted separately. Both figures are agreed before anything starts — we would rather have an awkward conversation about a fee at the beginning than an awkward invoice at the end.
Questions people ask before they call
Does MTD apply to me?
It depends on your qualifying income from self-employment and property added together: above £50,000 you are in from April 2026, above £30,000 from April 2027, above £20,000 from April 2028. We check your actual figures and tell you which April is yours.
Do the quarterly updates mean paying tax four times a year?
No. The quarterly updates are reports, not payments. Your tax is still settled through the Final Declaration and the usual payment dates, which is exactly why knowing the running estimate matters — nothing about the bill has moved closer, only the reporting.
I keep everything in a spreadsheet. Is that enough?
Not on its own under MTD, because the records have to be kept in software that can file to HMRC. In practice this is less painful than it sounds: we set the software up and most clients carry on sending us the same photographs they always did.
What if I miss a quarterly update?
MTD has a points-based penalty system for late submissions, with a financial penalty once the points reach the threshold. Since we prepare and submit the updates, missing one is not a mistake you are in a position to make.
Is the Final Declaration included?
No, and we say so before you sign rather than afterwards. It is priced separately because its size depends on your whole tax position — a sole trader with one trade is a different job from a landlord with three properties and dividends.
